FAQ

What is constitutional (junk) silver?+

'Constitutional' or 'junk' silver refers to circulated pre-1965 U.S. dimes, quarters, and half dollars struck in 90% silver. They have no numismatic premium, so they trade for their silver content — making face value an easy way to price them.

How much silver is in $1 of face value?+

About 0.715 troy ounces of silver per $1 face for worn 90% coins. So $10 face ≈ 7.15 oz, and $100 face ≈ 71.5 oz of silver.

Does this include 40% silver halves?+

This page uses the 90% convention. 1965–1970 Kennedy halves are 40% silver (about 0.2958 oz per $1 face) — add those separately in Stack Tracker for an exact total.
